When is Customer Service not Customer Service?

The answer to the question, When is Customer Service not Customer Service is . . . (sounds of the envelope being opened) . . . (sound of music intended to make you sweat) . . . Customer Service!

You think I’m making this up, don’t you. Perish the thought.

This week I spent some considerable time reviewing products, discussing them with my wife, and carefully choosing them and their quantities on Atkins.com. When I was finally ready, I pushed a button to submit the order. All I got was a page with a couple of sentences on it – something to the effect that I had entered a secure page. As if I didn’t know. The word ‘Done’ was at the bottom of the browser, so I was pretty sure that was that.

But, just on the off chance, I emailed customer service at Atkins, using the address provided on the web site for such matters. I received an email from them to say that they couldn’t help – remember this was from Customer Service – and that I needed to contact someone else whose email address was shown later in the message. Guess who they were?
