Two Sides of the Same Coin
Have you ever heard the saying, "There are two sides to the same coin?" It means that there are two ways of looking at the same thing, or two different interpretations of something that has occurred. If you look at the coin to the right, you'll discover that the front is that of an 1861 $20 gold piece. What would you expect to find on the back? Obviously, it would be the back of the selfsame gold piece. If this is what you expected, then you'd be wrong. Go on. Try it. Move your mouse over the picture and see what happens. I'll wait.
In fact, it is the back of a British £2 coin. Not what you expected, is it?
This is a perfect illustration of what goes on in the world of work. Managers do one thing and employees see it as something else, and vice versa. This monthly newsletter will explore some of these misunderstandings and misperceptions.
I'm looking forward to writing each of these installments, and I hope that you will enjoy reading them. You can subscribe to this free newsletter by completing the form below. You have my personal guarantee that I will never give away or sell your contact details without your permission.
